This marks Aaron Hawley’s fourteenth year of teaching high school choral music and his ninth year as the Director of Choirs at Permian High School. In 2016, he graduated with his Doctorate in Music Arts from the University of North Texas. Dr. Hawley is a summa cum laude graduate from Hardin-Simmons University where he received his Master of Music degree and from Ouachita Baptist University where he received his Bachelors of Music Education degree and graduated with honors. Dr. Hawley previously taught at South Garland High School in Garland, TX, where he began his teaching career as the assistant of Stan McGill and later followed him as the head choir director. His choirs have consistently received Sweepstakes and superior ratings at the University Interscholastic League contest.
Dr. Hawley is a proud member of the Texas Music Educators Association and has served the organization as the Region VI Vocal Chair, TMEA All-State Men’s Choir Coordinator, and All-State Men’s Section Leader. In addition to TMEA, his professional affiliations include the ACDA, Alpha Chi National Honors Society, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Phi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, TMAA, and TCDA. He is happily married to the love of his life, Mrs. Lauren Hawley. They are blessed to have a three children, Shiloh (3 yrs old), Alice (2 yrs old), and Wyatt (newborn).
