Kantorei

The Permian Choir program is comprised of approximately 350 students in seven performing ensembles.  Kantorei, the premier varsity mixed choir, consists of 60 students chosen by audition.  These students hold leadership positions in numerous activities outside of choir, including band, cheer, dance, theater, art, UIL academics, student government, NHS, and athletics.  Every member of Kantorei is expected to participate in the All-State audition process.  Permian HS has a long-standing tradition of All-State Choir members each year.

Kantorei is directed by Dr. Aaron Hawley, who is in his ninth year at Permian.  Dr. Hawley attributes much of his success to his amazing team of Associate Choir Directors that include Suvanna Lyon, Kenneth Sieloff, and Ginger Storey.  The Permian Choir program is also very grateful for our many wonderful voice teachers and incredibly talented middle school directors.  This will be the tenth appearance at TMEA for a Permian Choir, and the first for Kantorei under Dr. Hawley’s direction.  The members of Kantorei are thrilled to perform at TMEA this year!
